If you’re in the Los Angeles/SoCal area, I highly recommend going to a Cinespia screening, at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Nestled inside the gates of the Hollywood Forever, you’ll find a sprawling grassy sitting area and massive stone wall (where they project the film). The photo area is amazing and the photos make great memories, plus it helps support and enable the continuation of these wonderful events. Photo opt and photo keepsake = highly recommend. Near the screening wall you’ll find a groovy dj setup and great dj that really creates a fun picnic party atmosphere. There are a some food and drink vendors, and guests are also welcome to bring/pack their own picnic (rules/guidelines listed on their website).
Picnicking is one of my favorite aspects of attending the screenings here, as it encourages groups of friends and families to do a picnic potluck! I suggest arriving early, as the entry line can be quite long and prime blanket spots get scooped up fast!! Pack blankets to sit on, blankets to wrap up in, pillows, and I personally like bringing a tarp to place between the grass and blankets; being a costal state, there can be some ground moisture at night from the humidity in the air. Bring layers as it gets chilly once the sun sets, plus it’s always fun to get cozy while watching your favorite movie. Be sure to bring extra bags to gather all your trash at the end of the evening (think Burning Man style/zero footprint). Hollywood Forever has fireworks at some showings, so be sure to check the website to find those dates! Life is but a balancing act. Sometimes, life can be messy, hectic, and downright difficult. How can we find balance and not let the hardships sink our ship?? How can we stay afloat during times of loss, grief and intense emotional turmoil? — The good news is there is always a light, or a beacon to help keep us moving forward. Being human, we have the incredible ability to reshape and reprogram our mind and therefore our life. — Making simple cognitive (mindful) shifts every day can actually reprogram our thoughts and patterns of thinking. I have been studying neuroscience, intently, since I was a child, as the brain is a fascinating tool that we still have so much to learn about. Humans have the ability to create new neurological connections and pathways; which in turn, change us on a biochemical level. — We have the power and ability to change our thoughts and reprogram negative thinking with positive thoughts. Making simple shifts like stopping yourself when you start being overly critical of yourself and replacing negative spirals with positivity. The brain can do wondrous things when exercised properly. — I am a firm believer in neuroplasticity training; the art of training the brain through neural connections. Every time you learn something new or memorize information, you’re creating a new connection. Reading, reprogramming with gratitude and cognitively choosing happiness, are huge. Tai-Chi is also a great way to exercise the mind and body connectivity. Reading this is exercising your neuroplasticity, creating new synapses in your brain!!! Life is rarely just black and white, as life itself, often occurs in the perfectly imperfect gray area. The beauty, the mystery, the adventure, is often everything in-between. Not everything exists in the dark, and not everything thrives in the light. But the balancing act of dark and light is much more like a swirl ice cream cone; a perfectly imperfect blend of both. • In life, there are ups and downs. There are times of great light and times of tremendous darkness. During the dark times, are you able to see the light? In your life, what creates darkness? And what brings you light? What makes you feel invincible? And what tears you down, making you feel shattered? • Kindness, support and love make me feel invincible. My friends, family, support system, and fans, shed light on my life. Malice, jealousy, disrespect, and unjust actions create a heavy darkness for me. During difficult times, reach out and connect with those who love and support you. Tune-in to those you love, and if/when you notice something off, reach out to them and make sure they’re okay. Everyone is in this together, through the light and dark. Through good times and bad. When you feel loved and supported, it doesn’t matter how light or dark life becomes, as you will always thrive when you approach life as a team effort; no person in it just for oneself, but everyone in it, together, as a community, as a family. ❤️🤟🏼❤️Love Always, JLee Your Sweet 16

03•16•2020 During this new, interesting, and unknown time in history, many of us have been looking back, reflecting on our lives, to this point. • What got us here? Where are we now? And where do we wish to see things going in the near future? This is a time where many of us are hanging onto faith, goodness and love, hoping to let go of fear and uncertainty. • A time when major US metropolitan cities are experiencing #shutdowns and many of us are finding ourselves currently without work, as our job industries have halted, canceled, or temporarily shut down, as mine has. However, this is NOT the time to panic. But rather, I implore you to be gentler and kinder. • Reframe and instead, look at this time of #socialdistancing and #quarantine as a gift; a chance to take a look at life, with a new lens. • There is a lot of uncertainty but life has always been filled with uncertainties. Luckily, there is also a great amount of information, and I believe knowledge is one of the greatest powers. • And we also know this: We still have love. We still have each other. We still have relationships/friendships/co-workers. We have many ways to communicate and connect, so let’s take this time to reach out to old friends, family and take a moment to check-in. We have a wonderful opportunity to really rest, restore and rejuvenate. To take this time as a #selfcare#staycation where you can do those hair and skin masks. Meditate. And nourish your mind, heart and soul. • Please take this time as a gift to focus on human care; caring for yourself and those whom you live with. You have time to hydrate properly and take your vitamins and supplements. Try swapping out a #greenjuice instead of #coffee first thing in the morning! Watch those movies and shows. In the midst of this sometimes dark and clouded world, what lights YOU up and illuminates YOUR soul?
As humans, we are a species that is not meant to survive, nonetheless thrive, on our own. We are biologically predisposed to rely, connect with and work with others, in order to succeed. Much of the darkness that has clouded our world comes from utter selfishness and a disregard for others. Social media has made this even more prevalent BUT WE HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THIS!!! Let’s flip this selfish, self-centered script and start writing a story of a world where people come together, forming thriving communities and networks. How would your life change if you stopped saying “can’t” ?? Words have power and often our words become our reality. If we are feeding ourselves a negative and limiting dialogue, what boundaries are we also unintentionally creating? What if we begin focusing on possibilities vs limitations; “cans” instead of “can’ts”?
Try it. It’s fascinating the incredible freedom we can feel when we allow ourselves to encourage growth vs stagnation. Sorry for the wild thoughts but at the very least, I implore you to run it through your mind. ❤️ Always, JLEE Your Sweet 16
What are YOU grateful for? Take a few minutes every day to reflect, and think of what you’re grateful for. 🙌🏼 Have you tried this? . I like to do this by starting with 3–5 deep breaths; taking equal time for inhales and exhales. You can do this with your eyes open, closed or while you visualize something calming and peaceful (like stars in the night sky or the ocean). . As I breathe in, I thank my body and life for what I’ve accomplished. As I exhale, I thank my body and life for what is yet to come. . When in a state of gratitude, it is nearly impossible to be angry, devastated or defeated. A simple breathing exercise can help balance, align and ground you.
